Not too long ago, parents decorated nurseries pretty much the same way. Blue for boys and pink for girls. Nowadays, parents have added more colors to that palette, including bold colors as well as pastels and neutrals that they use for either gender.
But more than that, we are looking at different types of furniture within the nursery. Things that didn’t exist in the past are now available to consumers. One example is a convertible crib natural finish. This is where the crib can easily be converted into a small twin size or single bed. So, when you buy your set, you don’t have to change it. Instead, you remove the unnecessary pieces and you have a whole new bed for your toddler.
Another thing that has surfaced that no one would ever use in the past is black baby furniture. While black was never a color that we would add to a nursery, that has changed. It’s much more accepted as a color in many ways. The idea behind this is to make it look more sophisticated. Additionally, those who use this color furniture are seeing it as a way that the entire set will grow with their child.
So, they will only ever need to buy that one set. They see it as a smart way to save money in the long run. In many cases, this may be more costly than other sets, but their way of thinking is based in the future.
Meanwhile, some parents believe in buying furniture that will be kept only for a short period of time. Once there children become slightly older and have outgrown it, they plan to redecorate, taking their child’s opinion into consideration. It’s just a different way of thinking; long-term versus short-term. Neither is right or wrong.
As for the bedding, parents are buying more designer crib bedding than ever before. Even though these are quite sophisticated styles, parents preferred them to the conventional ones. One reason is because of their higher quality fabric. They prefer to have their babies soft and delicate skin touched only with finer materials.
Of course, we can’t forget budget. That is usually the reason why we make some decisions. But if you look around, you are certain to find things you like and when it comes time to purchasing those, you’ll be more confident.
