There are a few myths about heat pumps, most stemming from their early development back in the 1970’s, and James Walton of Auckland, New Zealand does a great job of putting a lot of these fallacies to rest.

  1. Turning the thermostat lower cools the room quicker
  2. Turning the thermostat to it’s highest setting will heat your room faster
  3. Heat pumps are only for heating
  4. Heat pumps are only effective in milder climates
  5. Heat pumps are expensive to run
  6. Heat pumps can only be installed in new houses
  7. You should run your heat pump 24 hours a day
